About Me | Business Chinese Blog for Expats | Yimeng Cao (曹依梦)

I am Yimeng Cao (曹依梦, Cáo Yī Mèng), the author of Business Chinese book series and the writer behind this Business Chinese learning blog. I created this blog to help expats and international professionals learn practical Mandarin Chinese that they can actually use in real work and daily life in China.

Business Chinese Essentials for Expats

I am from Lanzhou (兰州, Lán zhōu), a city famous for its beef noodles (兰州拉面 Lán zhōu lā miàn). Growing up in a place where food culture and communication are such an important part of daily life, I developed a strong appreciation for how language connects people, especially across different regions and cultures.

Why I Started This Business Chinese Blog

Mastering Introductions, Networking, and First Impressions-

When I first started teaching and working with expats, I noticed something very common: many students knew textbook Chinese, but still struggled in real business situations, like meetings, emails, negotiations, or even simple workplace conversations.

So I built this blog to focus on what really matters: practical Business Chinese for real communication. Not just isolated vocabulary, but full sentences, natural expressions, and cultural understanding that help you sound more confident and natural in Chinese workplaces.

What You Will Learn Here

This blog is based on structured topics from my book Business Chinese series. Each post focuses on one real-life situation that expats often face in China.

You will learn Business Chinese for topics such as:

  • Workplace communication and office conversations
  • Emails, meetings, and professional messaging
  • Transportation, logistics, and supply chain situations
  • Healthcare, hospitals, and emergencies
  • Legal and business-related discussions
  • Finance, economy, and trade vocabulary
  • Technology, science, and modern industry language
  • Festivals, culture, and social etiquette in China
  • Relationships, networking, and daily professional interaction

Every post includes real Chinese sentences with characters, pinyin, and English meanings, so you can understand and use them immediately.

My Teaching Style

I keep things simple and practical. I don’t believe in overcomplicating language learning. Instead, I focus on:

  • Real sentences used in actual business situations
  • Common expressions you will hear in Chinese workplaces
  • Clear explanations without unnecessary grammar theory
  • Cultural notes that help you avoid misunderstandings

Chinese is not just a language, it is also a way of thinking and communicating. Once you understand that, everything becomes easier.

A Personal Note

Business Chinese Essentials for Expats

I truly enjoy creating content that helps people communicate better across cultures. I know how challenging it can feel at the beginning, especially when Chinese seems very different from your own language.

But with the right structure and real examples, progress becomes much easier—and even enjoyable.

Let’s Learn Together

My goal is simple: to help you feel more confident using Business Chinese in real situations. Step by step, topic by topic, you will build the language skills you actually need in your professional life in China.
